Scaling the Skillful Parenting Program:

ICS Africa expanded its Skillful Parenting Program across Kenyan communities, focusing on reducing violence in homes and promoting positive parenting practices. This program, designed to build healthy parent-child relationships, has been instrumental in fostering non-violent homes and nurturing safe environments for children.

Reach and Impact:

Positive Changes and Outcomes:

Reduction in Home-Based Violence: Parents participating in the program report a marked decrease in violent disciplinary practices. By embracing non-violent discipline methods, families have created more secure and supportive home environments for children.

Stronger Parent-Child Relationships: The program emphasizes open communication and mutual respect within families, which has strengthened parent-child relationships. As a result, children feel safer and are better able to express themselves, contributing to their overall well-being.

Policy and Cultural Influence: ICS Africa’s involvement in the Learning Initiative helped elevate the Skillful Parenting Program to a national level. Integrated into the National Parenting Programme, this initiative has set a precedent for safe, supportive parenting across Kenya, encouraging broader cultural shifts towards non-violent family practices.
