Transforming Lives: Preventing Violence Against Children Across East Africa
Amani Girls Organization (AGO) is a Tanzanian non-governmental organization founded in 2004, dedicated to advancing gender equality and creating safe, equitable communities. With a mission to empower women and girls, AGO works to build resources and protective structures within communities, focusing on reducing child abuse and exploitation. Through community-based programming across 12 regions in Tanzania, AGO has positively impacted over 100,000 children by promoting child rights and advocating for the well-being of adolescent girls.
AGO’s programs span various initiatives, from early childhood education to community-based violence prevention. Through the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) initiative, AGO has increased school enrollment and retention rates for vulnerable children. Additionally, AGO’s Good School Toolkit (GST) pilot adapts a proven violence prevention framework to fit Tanzanian schools, fostering safer environments for students and staff.
