Transforming Lives: Preventing Violence Against Children Across East Africa

Stories of Transformation

The Learning Initiative has touched countless lives across East Africa, showcasing the profound impact of our partners’ work in preventing violence and creating safer communities for children.

Aneth’s Journey Back to School (Tanzania)

At just nine years old, Aneth’s education was interrupted due to family challenges. With support from Amani Girls Organization, Aneth re-enrolled in primary school, where she now thrives. AGO provided uniforms, school supplies, and meals, showing the power of community-driven interventions.

Impact of the Good School Toolkit (Uganda)

Through Raising Voices’ Good School Toolkit, hundreds of Ugandan schools have transformed. One primary school reduced physical violence by 42%, creating a safer and more supportive environment where respect and non-violent discipline are promoted.

About Us

In 2016, the Impact and Innovations Development Centre (IIDC), with support from the Wellspring Philanthropic Fund (WPF), launched the Learning Initiative on Preventing Violence Against Children (VAC) in East Africa. The initiative aimed to bring together key partner organizations from Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania to enhance their collective capacity in preventing VAC through evidence-based programming and collaborative learning.
