Transforming Lives: Preventing Violence Against Children Across East Africa

Children’s Rights and Violence Prevention Fund (CRVPF)

Founded in 2015, the Children’s Rights and Violence Prevention Fund (CRVPF) is a child rights and social justice organization that works across Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. As a regional grant-making entity, CRVPF supports over 250 community organizations to prevent violence against children (VAC) and young people, emphasizing the creation of safe, empowering environments. CRVPF’s collaborative approach fosters movement-building and resource-sharing among partners, amplifying impact in communities. CRVPF’s three main programs—Prevention of Violence against Children and Young People (PVAC), Adolescent Girls Power Program (AGPP), and Empowering Youth through Data and Community Development (EYDCD)—collectively address VAC prevention, gender equality, and economic empowerment.

Reach and Impact:

Positive Changes and Outcomes:

Reduction in Family Violence: The PVAC program helped reduce children witnessing parental physical fights from 63.5% to 30.9%, thanks to community-based interventions and parenting support

Enhanced Economic Empowerment: The EYDCD program’s VSLAs increased household incomes and reduced VAC by providing families with economic stability and access to dignified work opportunities..

Increased Adolescent Agency: The AGPP program empowered young girls to make informed decisions about their futures, strengthening their confidence and resilience in the face of adversity.
